Βασανιστικό το ερώτημα…
Ποιος νοιάζεται, τι νόημα έχει ένα τέτοιο ζήτημα καλοκαιριάτικα και πόσο αρμόδιος είναι ο υπογράφων το κειμενάκι αυτό;
Είναι καιρός που θέλω να καταθέσω όχι τόσο τις σκέψεις μου, όσο μια δόση νοσταλγίας, κάτι σαν προσωπική κατάθεση και έκθεση του εαυτού μου σε μέλη της δικτυακής αυτής κοινότητας.

LE : Ronny, which are your favorite 80s new wave groups ? Musically, do you prefer those years more than the 90s onwards ?

R.M. : In the 80s I used to like the sort of standard bands in that time, Bauhaus, Virgin Prunes, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie, Cure, The Sisters, Cameleons, Bunnymen, Theatre Of Hate, Eyeless In Gaza, Black Flag, The Comscat Angels, etc.
Also the Netherlands produced influential bands who made quite an impression to me, like Mecano from Amsterdam, Nasmak from Eindhoven, Coitus Interuptus from Utrecht, Minimal Compact etc. and ‘famous’ local bands from Nijmegen like Mechanic Commando and Vice.

I don’t think anything really interesting came out in the early 90’s but in the end it started picking up again with a whole new wave of new bands which took a more electronic direction and moved on instead of looking back. Περισσότερα “Clan Of Xymox – Interview” →

LE : Hello Thomas. Could you tell us how you got together as a band and who came up with the name De/Vision ? Which were your music influences at the early periods of the group and were there any projects you took part in before DeVision was formed?

Thomas : I was the last one who joined the band in 1988. Steffen and I, we had known each other since the age of twelve or thirteen, but somehow we lost sight of each other and then got into contact again after a few years and soon I became a member of the band. At that time the band had 4 members: Steffen, Markus, Stefan and Thomas, two of them have left the band in the meantime. I don΄t remember who came up with the name, that΄s too far away. This band was the first time I got into touch with (making) music, I had never touched any musical instruments, like the rest of the band I guess, but they were already quite experienced with the keyboards.
Our musical influences were, of course, the bands of the 80ies, we loved these electronic beats, the melancholy of the songs, melodies that went straight to your heart, that was something we wanted to create with our music. Περισσότερα “De/Vision – Interview” →

“The overriding reason for my departure, above all else, was that since ‘93 I hadn’t really been enjoying life in the group enough to warrant sticking with it, especially given that I didn’t feel there was anything more I could personally achieve within it’s boundaries. I have to say that I never had any doubts that it was the right thing to do at the right time for me. My involvement with Depeche has been good to me and I am grateful for the wonderful memories and the enviable position it has left me in. I’m proud of my involvement with ‘The Singles 86-98’ which effectively represents 10 years of hard but satisfying work. There have been one or two bleak moments but at the end of the day it’s all been worth it – and who could ask for anything more?”

Όταν έμαθα ότι επιτέλους οι ZWAN θα έρχονταν στο Λονδίνο, τα περισσότερα εισιτήρια είχαν ήδη εξαντληθεί. Κάποια που βρήκα ήταν για το level 3 του Shepherds Bush Empire, το οποίο φυσικά δεν είναι και ότι καλύτερο στο venue. Προσπαθώντας να μην προκαλέσω όμως την τύχη μου, αποφάσισα να παραγγείλω online αλλά το ticketmaster ήταν “down”. […]

Όταν έμαθα ότι επιτέλους οι ZWAN θα έρχονταν στο Λονδίνο, τα περισσότερα εισιτήρια είχαν ήδη εξαντληθεί. Κάποια που βρήκα ήταν για το level 3 του Shepherds Bush Empire, το οποίο φυσικά δεν είναι και ότι καλύτερο στο venue. Προσπαθώντας να μην προκαλέσω όμως την τύχη μου, αποφάσισα να παραγγείλω online αλλά το ticketmaster ήταν “down”. Άρχισα να βλέπω λοιπόν ξανά μπροστά μου τα φαντάσματα της ατυχίας που με είχαν αποτρέψει από το να δω live τους αγαπημένους Smashing Pumpkins στην Αθήνα πριν από κάποια χρόνια – κάτι που θα μετανιώνω για πολλά χρόνια ακόμα.
Οι προσπάθειες για ticket δεν απέδωσαν, οπότε το πήρα απόφαση ότι θα έπρεπε να ξεχάσω προς το παρόν τη συναυλία αυτή και να βρω μια λύση της τελευταίας στιγμής, ή να ψάξω στο ebay – πολύ πιθανόν χρυσοπληρώνοντας κάποιον… Περισσότερα “Zwan live, Shepherds Bush, London, 12.02.03” →

ANGELO – Giving answers is dangerous, as it risks to become an unlucky deal: people are envious of everything which makes a person… a person. Then one always risks to hard-disappoint somebody else. The difference between me and other bla-bla musicians is simple: they always have a certain ‘mass identity’ behind their behaviour (being a codified rebel is so respectably “juvenile”, now… and the funny thing is just that everybody acts like he/she was a kinda today’s Mick Jagger, that’s so tediously ordinary), so, more or less, let’s say they always have some support; but, when I decide to talk… be sure almost 50% of the readers starts getting upset!
